American Medical Systems Holdings, Inc. engages in developing, manufacturing, selling, and marketing medical devices to physicians treating men?s and women?s pelvic health conditions worldwide. It manufactures and markets a line of proprietary surgical products to urologists, gynecologists, and urogynecologists for erectile restoration, benign prostatic hyperplasia, male urethral stricture, urinary and fecal incontinence, menorrhagia, and pelvic organ prolapse. The company?s products for men include AMS 800, an urinary sphincter product; AMS 700 MS, an inflatable prostheses for erectile restoration; the InhibiZone that reduces the rate of revision surgery due to surgical infections; Tactile Pump and Momentary Squeeze Pump to improve ease of use for patients; AdVance Male Sling for the treatment of mild male incontinence; UroLume, an endoprosthesis stent; InVance sling system a less-invasive procedure for men with moderate incontinence; and Acticon Neosphincter to treat severe fecal incontinence, as well as BPH therapy products consisting of GreenLight HPS that offers laser beam balancing vaporization of tissue with coagulation to prevent blood loss, and StoneLight laser and SureFlex fiber optics for the treatment of urinary stones. It also offers a range of systems to restore female continence comprising Monarc for stress incontinence; MiniArc Single-Incision Sling incontinence solution that minimizes tissue disruption and blood loss; Acticon neosphincter, which is used to treat severe fecal incontinence; Apogee system that is designed to repair vaginal vault prolapse; Perigee system, which targets repair of cystocele through the anterior wall of the vagina; InteXen, a biologic graft; and Elevate, an anterior product for pelvic floor repair. The company distributes its products through direct field representatives and independent distributors.
